I agree, Aegisub is very good, although not extremely intuitive. But once you get used to it, there is no turning back.
[i]Also, don't use "Save As", if you are supposed to provide your result not in .ass format.[/i] You can open, edit and save a file in another format, but "Save As" provides only an .ass option.
But this is the only downside I've found so far.
