It's certainly not normal for me. In 27 years of translation for subtitling, I've only ever been paid for the runtime of the video, never the cumulative duration of the subtitles produced. [/quote]
What if it's like an hour long interview with 2 languages spoken in it, and the total subtitles duration for the language you're translating for ends up only like 10-20 minutes? Should you still demand to be paid for the entire hour?
