kiara, to stop the timer, they said you have to close your browser window. I've tried it and that really works. When you log in again, the timer starts again from where it left off.
I'm glad I've managed to register, get my Hermes number and do my test without any hassles, after reading so many horror stories from other candidates. I don't know whether these people have done anything wrong in the process without realizing it (maybe using a web browser other than Chrome?) or it's just bad luck. I've experienced a little video buffering when I was wrapping up my test, too, but nothing too despairing. I would advise anyone to do their tests late at night (like I did), after 2 or 3 AM, to avoid a throttled Internet connection due to local traffic. Remember that streaming video has to go through many nodes to get to your computer, and any one of those could be strangled, even if you're getting full speed at your end. And Stage 5 is actually two videos. That's just the way it is. It was like that in the Portuguese and Italian tests I took. Maybe they decided that just one video segment was too little material and added a second one. In the test description it says it takes 90 minutes to complete the test, but that's if you count only one of the Stages 5. Go figure.

The timer stopped when I clicked on the link for the support and then restarted again from where it left off when I went back to the page. That's why I was hoping I would get an email from support. Every time I check if the video is now working or not, I "waste" time. I don't want to end up in having to take the test with only 5 minutes left.
I was expecting some sort of glitch (mainly with the log in), but not problems of this kind, especially since I am using a computer that has all the system requirements Netflix requested.
I too took the test late at night hoping it would help, but it didn't. It wasn't 2 a.m. but it was still late.
I'll try even later, if I manage to stay awake :)
