Forum: Subtitling
Topic: New to subtitling / closed captions and looking for advise
Poster: New@Captions
Hi,
I'm interested in learning about subtitling and/or closed captioning but have no clue where to start. This forum seems like the good place to ask :)
Objective: doing quality control of subtitles and/or closed captions for videos
My background:
- Canadian, english spoken/written
- years of experience in software testing {QA) and some video editing
I'm reading up on it but books about this are scarce, especailly closed captioning. This was a very interesting read: [url removed]
How would be a good way to start? (besides downloading free subtitling apps? I've tinkered with CaptionMaker a bit)
- book suggestions?
- taking a subtitling/media course?
- subtitling short videos on freelance? (not just yet)
Would this eventually lead to QA'ing captions?
